This painting was based on my very first sketchbook drawing of Westminster. I like to get to the heart and understand a building, so I'm fastidious about the intricate details, all the glorious features of this magnificent gothic structure. I found it exciting because it's so complicated architectually and therefore more of a challenge, which I can possibly simplify and quirk up in later versions, to appeal to a different market. The exterior facade has been saturated towards orange as I like strong colours rather than it's traditional beige. My main aim is to create a fun and original drawing with a light-hearted approach to make the viewer smile.
