'Knightsbridge', also known as 'A Summers's Shopping Hotspot', was painted in 2008. Originally a commission, this large statement piece depicts Jilly and Lawrence Clark, owners of Knightsbridge Boutique in London. Lizzy Hewitt uses linear perspective and elongated figures to give this piece a three-dimensional effect. As the couple walk their precious pooches in unison through this iconic city, it is almost as if the viewer could step into the painting themselves. The street is animated with colourful passion in the form of heart-shaped smoke and balloons, as well as a seemingly smiling red car. Overall, this painting is a light-hearted and joyful form of escapism.
